Using experiential learning for non-formal teaching history at secondary schools

Title: Using experimental learning for non-formal teaching of history at lower-secondary schools and for corresponding grades of eight- or six-year grammar schools. Objectives: The aim of this thesis was to create and realize a non-formal educational programme for a 9th graders of lower-secondary schools and for the corresponding grades of eight- or six-year grammar schools, which would serve to complement teaching of history with help of using elements of experiential learning. The secondary aim was evaluate programme by students themselves by using survey. Methods: The research group consisted of 54 students of the 9th graders of elementary school and the corresponding grade of eight- or six-year grammar schools. Data collection was based on using a self administered survey, which contained six closed question and one open-ended question. The data was evaluated with using graphs and descriptive statistics. Results: The survey results show that 53,7 % of the probands had never experienced a similar educational program before. The influence of experiential education to their participants

The thesis deals with the influence of the various forms of experiential education on its participants. The theoretical part describes the basic terms of experiential education, its development, goals, forms, and principles. The empirical part consists of the qualitative research based on an observation method and a semi-structured interview whose aim was to analyse whether, and if so how, the experiential education used in the authorial project Saan influences its participants. The main aim of the thesis was to evaluate in what way are the participants influenced by the experiential education and then to compare this theoretical knowledge with the conducted research.
Experiential education and its place in the educational and curriculum program at secondary school

The topic of the diploma thesis is experiential pedagogy and its place in the educational programme of secondary schools. The theoretical part explains the basic concepts of experiential pedagogy, the educational process, teaching strategies of experiential pedagogy, types and prevention of risky behaviour. The research part is focused on creating and subsequent implementation of an experiential adaptation course. The survey involved 139 respondents from group 1 and 232 respondents in group 2. Data were collected using a modified version of the B-3 questionnaire. The aim of the research was to find out whether the experiential adaptation course influences the perception of one's own position in the classroom, the quality of the team and the perception of feelings of security, friendship, cooperation, trust and tolerance. The hypotheses focused on class position and team quality were not confirmed, there was no significant difference between the compared groups. On the contrary, the hypothesis focused on feelings in the classroom was statistically confirmed. The research study showed that the experiential adaptation course mainly affects feelings in the classroom.
Experiential Education: Teaching English Language to Adults

The diploma thesis focuses on experiential education as a possible and efficient methodology for teaching ESL to adult learners. The theoretical part scrutinizes the key principles of the method and investigates its background. In addition, the thesis clarifies the concept of learning styles and Kolb's Learning Cycle. The following sections deal with the adult learner as a specific type of learner with his characteristic needs and factors influencing his SLA. Furthermore, the benefits of experiential education for the adult learner are considered. The practical part introduces several concrete activities using elements of experiential education. These activities were described in detail and piloted in a group of adult learners.
Developing environmental sensitivity through the fine art

The thesis is focused on searching for the ways, how to develop environmental sensitivity through the fine art, specifically painting or drawing and work with own body. Author strives about how to perceive own everyday surroundings more sensitively, to experience own presence in it more deeply and also to be able to rationally reflect own experience. This should make in a man personal relationship to the environment and stimulate pro-environmental behavior. The work is directed through theoretical excursion to the issue and author's art research to development the art method that author applies in his art-experiential action.

Selection of outdoor course objectives

Bachelor thesis deals primarily with the problems of outdoor courses objectives, both in terms of course submitter, and organizations concerned with outdoor courses realization. The thesis consists of two complementary parts: theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part is dedicated to explain the basic concepts of outdoor education, describe the process of selecting a suitable outdoor course and passed course evaluation. The aim of the empirical part is to evaluate the process of selecting targets for outdoor courses demanded by Czech organizations engaged in outdoor training education . Questionnaire survey and semi-structured interview techniques had been used to achieve the thesis goals. Use of experiential pedagogic methods in systematic work with pupil's group The goal of this paper was to create and realize a supportive stimulative program for a group of elementary students with specific learning disabilities focused on support of positive self-concept and self-evaluation, which have been decreased in case of school unsuccessfulness and on development of student's social ability. The supportive and stimulating program comes from theoretical findings in the area of experiential education, social psychology and psychology of personality.
